FIFA 12 Wishlist

August 7, 2011

A new season in football is about to dawn. The summer transfers have been made, people have been sacked and FIFA 12 is just around the corner but has EA fixed everything that players have been crying about in FIFA 11 or have they introduced more pointless features and not fixed the core gameplay? Here is a wishlist of what some FIFA fans would like to see in the next FIFA season and hope this will be introduced in FIFA 12.

Fix the laggy menu for god sakes:

First off to enter a FIFA game it takes approximately 3-5 minutes. Why? Because we must wait for all the licensing screens, all the loading to take place and after all is set and done we have to deal with laggy menu’s through out our whole gaming time. Is it that difficult to create  a menu which doesn’t lag?

There he is, Wayne Rooney again!

Stupid commentary:

Sometimes the commentary can get ridiculous and become obscene. How can a commentator say after scoring a goal “and it’s out for a goal kick”? I mean seriously? Also the commentary becomes very repetitive and when the commentator says lines such as “this is the first time I’m going to tell you this”, don’t you think EA shouldn’t include lines like that in the script if the script is going to be heard a thousand of times when the game is being played? I’m sure many other FIFA players have come across more stupid points the commentators have made, so what are your experiences with them?

No handicap in Ultimate Team please:

Have you been saving up for your favourite and top players to make one of the most skilled teams in FIFA? Well don’t since in Ultimate Team higher rated teams will get handicapped against lower rated teams. It makes you think what’s the point of Ultimate Team when your ‘Ultimate Team’ plays like a….garbage team? You would think a strong defender such as Giorgio Chelleni would be able to defend and barge off an unknown and never heard of striker but not in Ultimate Team. So hopefully EA fixes this mess.

Please, please fix your servers EA:

You know millions of people around the world are playing matches and you have been in the gaming industry long enough EA to know or estimate the amount of traffic FIFA is drawing in. With the amount of money EA has made you would think they would make the servers more smooth but you’re constantly introduced to the message “You have been disconnected from the EA server”. What makes it worse is the message makes it sound as if it’s our fault that we have been disconnected. Waiting for the final 15 seconds to bid on a player in Ultimate Team? Well not only do you have to worry about the price the player will go up to or how many dogs are watching him but you have another thing to worry about, being disconnected from the EA servers. Also owning an opponent online 5-0 then being disconnected in the very last minute to basically lose the match. Nice sportsmanship EA.

Why is everyone facing towards the left?

Fast paced strikers being outpaced by slower paced defenders:

If there were turtles in FIFA, they would catch up to rabbits, that’s how ridiculous it is. Defenders that you dribble past and outpace for the first couple of steps can turn on nitrous and catch up to you like they’re an heir of Walcott. Defenders are strong yes, some defenders are fast but the turtle defenders, how the hell can they catch up to very fast paced strikers? This is something that will remain a mystery and we can only hope it’s fixed in FIFA 12. Defenders are stronger which is the reason they have the turtle shell, to barge strikers that are nearby off the ball but never has anyone seen a turtle catch up to a hare other than in a fairy tale story.

83% of the time players spend it in hospital rather than on the pitch:

Why was it so easy to get injured in FIFA 11? Also from what I’ve read and seen it seems like it will be even easier to get injured in FIFA 12! I mean this was one of the bigger complaints in last years installement that was pissing off numerous fans and the way EA has approached the problem is very unique by making it worse. Very interesting. Hopefully they approach it the opposite way I guess in FIFA 13.

Let us create or host a 32 player tournament:

Ever wanted to host a World Cup or a 32 playered tournament in FIFA 11? Well you can’t so hopefully we see this being introduced in FIFA 12 rather than a tournament that ends in a couple of matches.

Be able to straight swap players & smaller auction time frame:

In Ultimate Team I don’t want to put up one of my players to get trade offers of players I’ve never seen in my life or someone who thinks they’re lucky enough to offer a bronze player on Ronaldo and I will by mistake accept it. Hopefully EA will allow us this year to actually tell everyone below or anywhere around the card what player we’re looking for. This will allow us to create our team more efficiently. Also make the auction time frame shorter and allow it to go up in 15 minutes rather than 3 hours. So for example I put a player up for 15 minutes, go play a match and come back to find he’s sold. Very easy and everyone will be happier with more choices in how they have more control with the auction of their own player.

I think I'll just attack my own goal keeper

Make gold packs in Ultimate Team cheaper:

Currently in Ultimate Team to create your ultimate team, you will need sell your house and your wife and if you don’t have a wife your baby brother for that matter. Why are packs so expensive that you have to play numerous matches before you can actually buy one and cry afterwards seeing the highest rated player you got was a Russian you’ve never heard of? I understand EA wants to make money but seriously balance it out between EA making money and customer happy.

This needs its own section, so please for the help of god fix it:

You perform a short pass on the pitch for one of your midfielders to not run towards it & wait for it to come right to his feet but then the opponents defender sprints from behind and takes the ball away. Why can’t my players run towards the ball?

Don’t insert Wayne Rooney on the front cover:

Not such a big problem and I know already its been confirmed that he’s already on FIFA 12’s cover but what makes it a problem is when you start having more pictures of Wayne Rooney from FIFA than of your girlfriend.

There he is again!

Now this one is for the record books, why does the referee whistle offside when the ball becomes with the opponent’s player? You cannot play on because the referee is that smart! Please fix this EA, it isn’t like this in real life.

Why oh why?

So you cut in from the wings with your player and have past all your opponents defenders, now all there is left to do is shoot right? Wrong! You will have to hope your player doesn’t shoot with his wrong foot even if you have him on the right side of the pitch. Why do players sometimes shoot with their wrong foot when they’re perfectly capable of shooting with their correct foot goes beyond me.

Through ball pass stupidness:

So you see one of your players is about to make a run for it, you pass through the air a through ball but instead of your player continuing to run, he turns back and stands still. Why?

So that just about sums up a lot of the things that have happened in the past couple of FIFA installements and EA didn’t fix them but instead add new features rather than improving and refining some of its core gameplay and old modes. Hopefully a lot of what’s on this list has been fixed in FIFA 12. I have a press badge to visit the Eurogamer Expo that will be taking place next month. So I’ll update this blog letting you know how the game actually fairs compared to last year.

What sort of problems or what do you wish to be implemented in this years FIFA 12?

Portal 2 VS Mortal Kombat. FIGHT!

April 15, 2011

With both games being released on the same day, which one will you be purchasing? Will you be supporting team Aperture Science or Team MK? A very hard decision indeed.

Aperture Science team, this is what you’re up against.

Mortal Kombat is one of the most famous beat em up games to ever be created in this universe, although it did go down hill with MK VS DC and watered down violence wasn’t acceptable so Mortal Kombat has gone back to its roots with violence and gore being the main feast. Also top fighters making a return such as Noob Saibot and surprisingly Team MK has sent out an invitation to the God of War himself Kratos which he graciously accepted. Stages and mini games from the first MK are making a return and if you were ever a fan of the Krypt you will be happy to know it has made a return. The Krypt is used more like a unlockable shop but you can’t see the content you are purchasing with in game coins. You pick a casket and spend your earned in game coins and whatever comes out of the casket is your prize (evidently). Fatalities & Babalities are more violent and umm more…..cuter than ever?

Portal 2 is a sequel to the highly acclaimed…..Portal. Every scientist is ready for this game baby because it will rock! The first game was a first person shooter with mind dazzling puzzles. You have a gun and guess what your gun shoots out? Yes, portals. The game is set to have up to 19 tests for you to solve during the main storyline although I’m sure there will be more gameplay outside of the testing facility. Also with a coop feature being introduced in Portal 2 you can now shoot portals at your friends & piss off strangers if you’re into that sort of thing (maybe shooting portals on the ground while they’re trying to help you out? Hey, just saying).

Be sure everyone to comment on which game you will be purchasing and why in our comment system below.

The Nintendo 3DS

April 6, 2011

Come and join us in 3D!

The Nintendo 3DS is finally upon us and with it all the hype and all the questions we may now rest in peace because the 3DS defines history. Playing games on a handheld console with 3D graphics in the palm of your hand, without the need for the awful glasses. No one would have thought a technological leap would have come so soon until the 3DS arrived. The 3DS also brings better WiFi capability and a new creative way for game developers to introduce new ideas in their games using the 3DS features.

The 3DS features a new analogue stick which introduces a new flexible way to play your games rather than the old diagonal-pad (DPAD). The anticipated handheld also allows you to not only play in mind blowing 3D but to also play in 2D whenever you would like to kick back to old school. The handheld is currently only available in 2 colours in the U.K, aqua blue and cosmos black. From the day of release, the 3DS will have more than 10 video games and more launch titles available to play. Classics such as The N64 Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time to DS classics such as Nintendogs will be available from the get go.

The million dollar question is, is the 3DS worth purchasing? The answer to that is an assuring yes. The 3DS doesn’t only use the latest 3D technology but also manages to use it in a very effective way that will make you not want to put it down. Action games become more intense, arcade games become more fun and sports games become more realistic and cooking games become…..more 3D? What handheld can let you cook cake in 3D? The one and only 3DS ladies and gentlemen.

So what are you waiting for? Visit your local store and pick one up now, do not cease the chance of baking cakes in awesome 3D.

10 Things Everyone Did In Grand Theft Auto III

January 11, 2011

Once upon a time in a world far, far away. We had a peaceful world before GTA. There has been numerous Grand Theft Auto’s released after GTAIII, but none will ever replace  our beloved GTAIII, nor will anything replace our animal friend Pogo The Monkey.

GTAIII was the first game to truly be a sandbox game and revolutionise gaming forever. You’re put in a world where everything goes and doesn’t throw the word ‘fun’ out the window.

If you’ve all played this game you would understand the nostalgic feeling this game will always bring once you see a screenshot or hear your favourite music track on your favourite radio station. I’ve compiled a list of things I’m sure everyone would remember doing. Be sure to comment telling us what creative things you used to do in GTAIII.

Pick up a hooker:

Remember when you used to drive by with your Infernus or Cheetah trying to pick up hookers so they can give you that extra 25 health points? Then after it all gets down and groovy you kill her and take your money back.

Place a car bomb and wait:

So you visit 8 Ball to fix you with a car bomb. You drive to a section of the map that’s highly populated with civilians and leave it in the middle of the road with your bomb armed. Once in a while a civilian would try to steal the car and that’s where you come in. Then you hear humorous screams from civilians.

Delaying your mission just to finish off a good music track:

I’m sure everyone did this. Before entering a mission if a music track such as ‘Push It To The Limit’ or ‘She’s On Fire’  was on you would delay your mission till the music track is finished.

The Great Wall of Cars then KABOOM:

Basically I used to park a car in the middle of a two way street, then vehicles that are coming and going will be blocked. You steal all the cars that are near you and put them right next to each other. Shoot one car till it’s about to explode then you get to watch the pattern of exploding cars begin. Such beauty…

Stealing the only Banshee on the first island:

The first island only had one and it was right next to a petrol station to what seemed like a car company which only owned one car, but that one car had monstrous speed!

Head shotting civilians from rooftops:

Used to buy a sniper and filled it up with ammo, then go over to a high rooftop and try and get as many headshots in row as I possibly could. Once I had a four star wanted level I would ready my Bazooka to take down the chopper.

Ride the Dodo as long as possible:

Remember the very first time you tried to ride the Dodo and just crashed it? Or remember the very first time you rode it and was actually able to keep it under control for over 5 seconds? It felt very rewarding.

Using cheat codes:

The police is shooting at you, you then rotate a couple of times and then get granted full instant health. My sniper ammo has finished, hmm lets just rotate a couple of times to restock the ammo.

You think you can take me? You need an army if you’re going to take me:

Achieving a 6 star wanted level and once the tank has arrived, you steal it and go on a riot shooting your cannon and blowing up cars. I’ve always wondered why the police was so suicidal when you had the tank? As soon as they appear they tried to commit suicide and drive right into you.

Listening to Lazlow:

Turn your radio stations to Chatterbox and listen to people talking to Lazlow about naked people. Lazlow makes anything interesting!

GTAIII was released many years ago but will forever remain in our hearts as the best Grand Theft Auto yet. What did you guys used do in GTAIII? Be sure to drop it down in the comment section.

Fallout: New Vegas Hardcore Mode Special Reward Revealed

October 23, 2010

Fallout: New Vegas was released just Tuesday in North America and just yesterday in Europe. New Vegas is about the player being betrayed and left for dead. After being patched up by the doctor while simultaneously creating your character, you’re left with an option before heading out of the operations room. To switch Hardcore mode on (which isn’t recommended) or keep it off and play the game Fallout 3 style.

Hardcore mode is where the developer Obsidian decided on making New Vegas that bit more difficult and interesting or annoying? You consistently have to keep hydrated, eating food, sleeping and you cannot fast travel if the distance will make you sick of dehydration. Your Stimpaks also do not heal instantly but overtime and your bullets can add weight to your inventory.

When prompted to choose if the player would like to switch on or off Hardcore mode at the beginning of the game, a message appears informing the player that there will be a special reward waiting for them upon completion.

The special award is….drum roll please. The Hardcore trophy/achievement. Unfortunately, yeah that is it. So there you have it, a kick in the ass. Check back for our full Fallout: New Vegas review.
